Quivering air, a bass trombonist, a composer and a studio: the main ingredients of my first solo album ‘Bass Trombone on Air’…. 

A meeting between two musicians, that's how it started. I met Eddy Koopman in my search for new repertoire for the bass trombone. Twenty years ago this versatile composer, arranger, percussionist and producer made an arrangement of a Canzone by Frescobaldi for electronics and bass trombone, for the first solo CD by Ben van Dijk. I approached him to ask if he wanted to write a new composition for me. At our first meeting we found we had a lot of things in common, such as sense of humour, sobriety, enjoying beautiful nature, a passion for music, and being open to a wide range of musical styles. This is how our first single ‘’Patterns of Evidence’’ was born; a composition that proved that if the paths of life of two different musicians cross by chance, beautiful new music can arise. Encouraged by positive responses, we decided that this was not the end of our journey together. That is how this album, with seven new works for bass trombone by Eddy Koopman, was created.
